This holiday offers to show the glorious history and countryside of this part of England. The wonderful Beamish Museum with its many attractions and the beautiful Alnwick Gardens with its Grand Cascade fountain. There is the city of Newcastle upon Tyne to explore with its historical old buildings as well as new.

Day 1

We join our coach for the journey to the north east of England and our hotel located in the centre of Newcastle upon Tyne.


Day 2

After breakfast we depart for the one of most popular attractions in this part of the country, Beamish Museum. This Open Air Museum tells the story of the life in North East England during the 1820's, 1900's and 1940's. Its historic 1900s town shows how families lived and worked, the 1900's Colliery and Pit Village where you can practise your handwriting and don't forget to say hello to the pit ponies. There is also a tramway to ride on, some shops to visit and some traditional tasty treats to enjoy.

Day 3

This morning we travel to the town of Alnwick which is home to an impressive garden and its themes such as the Rose Garden, Serpent Garden and its must see the Grand Cascade. After lunch we continue to the Woodburn Colliery Museum where we discover the history of the Colliery and view the paintings painted by the Miner's themselves.

Day 4

Today after breakfast is a day to explore the city of Newcastle. The morning is free to explore the city centre but at 1200 we meet at the Quayside for our River Tyne cruise. The cruise lasts for two hours and travels under eleven bridges and includes The Millennium Bridge, Tyne Bridge and the High Level Bridge. On our return you are free to continue to explore.

Day 5

We say farewell to the North East of England after our breakfast and begin our journey home arriving back late afternoon.

Mercure Newcastle County Hotel, Newcastle upon Tyne.

This three star grade II listed Victorian hotel is situated in the heart of the city. Its facilities include a restaurant and a bar to relax in. All the bedrooms are ensuite with television, and served by a lift.


The hotel does not have any bedrooms with walk in showers or ground floor rooms. All floors are served by a lift but guests will have to negotiate a few steps to their rooms
