Decoder, Aeroplanes and Tea.

This holiday has a selection of varied attractions covering the area around the ancient city of Cambridge.

On this holiday we follow a World War II theme and you will enjoy the trips to Bletchley Park famous for the Enigma machine, the Imperial War Museum featuring thirty iconic aircraft and the 1940’s Operations Room. Enjoy a visit to Woburn Abbey with its significant art exhibition and enjoy afternoon tea in the Duchess’ Tea Room. It all adds to be an enjoyable and thought provoking holiday!

Day 1

Today we leave from your joining point and travel across the country with a lunch stop en route before we arrive at the outskirts of Cambridge and are welcomed at the hotel with a tea or coffee.


Day 2

This morning after breakfast we travel to Bletchley Park where Alan Turing and his colleagues helped crack Germany's Enigma code during World War II. We visit the codebreaking huts, Alan Turing's office, wartime vehicle garages and the interactive exhibits. After absorbing the information and taking in the atmosphere we rejoin our coach for the journey back to our hotel.

Day 3

Today we travel to the Imperial War Museum at Duxford. It shows us the landmark achievements made in aviation history in a series of museums and exhibitions such as the 1940's Operations Room, Airspace and the Battle of Britain Exhibition to name but a few!
A day will hardly seem long enough to explore the War Museum Duxford has to offer.

Day 4

After breakfast we travel to the historic Woburn Abbey which has been home to the Dukes & Earls of Bedford since the 1620's. There will be time to enter the Abbey and view one of the most significant private art collections, you can continue and discover the gardens plus the Hornbeam Maze, the aviary and the unique Cone House. We will then enjoy an afternoon tea in the Duchess' Tea Room, since it was a wife of the 7th Duke of Bedford who popularized this tradition in the 1840's.

Day 5

We leave after breakfast and make our journey back arriving at your joining point late afternoon.

Hotel Details:  The Cambridge Belfry Hotel, Cambridgeshire.

This modern four star hotel overlooks a lake in Cambourne. The hotel has a welcoming restaurant, bar and lounge, plus a leisure club including a swimming pool and steam room. The hotel’s bedrooms are en suite with a television, hairdryer and tea/coffee making facilities and are served by a lift.
