Kent's Historic Highlights

Known as the “Garden of England”, Kent is home to more castles, stately homes and gardens than any other region in Britain. This holiday visits some of its well-known attractions.

Day 1

We join our coach and travel to Kent taking in the English beautiful countryside before arriving at our hotel late afternoon in time to settle in before our evening meal.

Day 2

After breakfast we travel to the historic Dockyard in Chatham, a unique award winning maritime heritage attraction with its iconic buildings and historic ships to explore. In the afternoon we drive to nearby town of Rochester with its own history dating back through the centuries. The town was cherished by Victorian novelist Charles Dickens.

Day 3

Today we travel after breakfast to Canterbury which was made famous by Chaucer's Canterbury Tales and dominated by the Norman Cathedral which is our first stop, where we enjoy a guided tour of the Cathedral. Afterwards there will be free time in the city before rejoining our coach for the journey back to our hotel.

Day 4

After breakfast we make the journey to Leeds Castle called "the loveliest Castle in the world". The Castle is set in 500 acres along with its moat, aviary, maze and formal grounds. In the afternoon we travel onto Sissinghurst and visit one of England's most romantic gardens and the story behind it.

Day 5

This morning we depart from the hotel and Kent, and travel back to your joining point.

Mercure Maidstone Hotel, Near Maidstone.

This modern three star hotel is set within 26 acres of grounds close to the town of Maidstone. The hotel’s facilities include an indoor swimming pool and sauna plus it has a bar and lounge to relax in. The bedrooms are ensuite with television, hairdryer and tea/coffee making facilities.

  • Meals are on a Half Board basis. (Breakfast is English and Dinner is three courses)

  • A visit to the Historic Dockyard in Chatham.
