Lancashire Hotpot

On this holiday you can experience different views of the North West of England.

We stay in Morecambe, a seaside town located on the edge of the bay. i It an ideal place to explore this part of North West England. There are enjoyable excursions included on the Settle & Carlisle railway, historic houses and gardens and a canal boat ride.

Day 1

We depart this morning and travel through the English countryside with a lunch stop on the way, we arrive at our hotel in time to settle in before our evening meal.

Day 2

Today after a leisurely breakfast we join our coach and travel to the nearby city of Lancaster, with a wealth of history which can be traced back to an ancient fort in 80AD. After some free time we return to our hotel.

Day 3

This morning after breakfast we join our coach for the journey to Settle and its railway station. Agreed to be one of the most beautiful journeys in the country as it follows the River Ribble, across high moors and travel across the famous 24-arch Ribblehead viaduct and along Garsdale. We disembark at Appleby and we return to Morecambe by coach.

Day 4

Today is a free day to explore the attractions of the town, such as the bronze statue of Eric Morecambe or visit nearby Heysham home to its renowned Nettle drink brewed previously by local ladies in old cottages.

Day 5

This morning we travel through the Lancashire countryside to Samlesbury Hall. The Hall is a haven for history lovers where you can enjoy intrigue and witchcraft through its rooms, and feed its rescued hens in its grounds. We continue to Riley Green where we join our canal boat for an hour's cruise passing through delightful countryside whilst enjoying a tea or coffee. After an enjoyable day we travel back to our hotel and our evening meal.

Day 6

After another leisurely breakfast we join our coach for the journey to Levens Hall. It is a magnificent Elizabethan mansion built around a 13th century Pele Tower. It contains a collection of Jacobean furniture, paintings and patchwork. The gardens laid out in 1694 have beech hedges, seasonal beds and topiary abstract shapes which create a stunning visual impact.

After breakfast we join our coach for the journey back with a lunch stop to your joining points.

Hotel Details: The Auckland Hotel, Morecambe.

This popular three star hotel is located on the seafront esplanade offering views over Morecambe Bay from its lounges. The hotel’s bedrooms are en suite with a television, hairdryer and tea/coffee making facilities. There is a lift serving the rooms but some guests will have to manage 5-6 steps in order to access their rooms.
