Royals, Rails & Sails in Scotland

On this holiday we feature some of the Royal connections with Scotland such as Glamis Castle & The Palace of Holyrood.

This new holiday for 2019 sees us visit some of its attractions with a strong Royal connection such as The Palace of Holyrood, Glamis Castle and the Royal yacht Britannia.

 

Day 1

This morning we leave from your joining point and travel north along the motorway network to our hotel at Kinross and our evening meal.

Day 2

Today after breakfast we drive to the Firth of Forth where we board the "Maid of the Mist" for a ninety minute cruise with a commentary. Afterwards in the afternoon we travel to Bo'Ness where we enjoy a scenic return train journey and after the trip there will be some free time to visit the Museum of Scottish Railways before joining the coach.

Day 3

After breakfast we travel through Perthshire to Glamis Castle where we experience a guided tour learning that it was the legendary setting for Shakespeare's Macbeth and it was the birthplace of Princess Margaret. In the afternoon we join the coach and travel into Dundee where we visit Discovery Point and explore Captain Scotts' ship "The Discovery" which sailed to Antartica. After an informative day we return to our hotel.

Day 4

Today after breakfast we travel into the capital city, Edinburgh where we first visit the Palace of Holyrood the Queen's official scottish residence. After our visit we continue by coach the short distance to Leith Docks where we visit the Royal Yacht Britannia where you can walk around some of its rooms and decks. After an enjoyable day we travel back to Kinross and our hotel.

Day 5

This morning we say farewell to our hotel and Scotland and travel south using the motorway network before arriving back at your joining point early evening.

Hotel Details:> The Green Hotel, Kinross.

This traditional three star hotel is located in the village of Kinross in the Kingdom of Fife.

The hotel offers a restaurant, pub style bar and a shop selling scottish produce.

Its bedrooms are ensuite with television and tea/coffee making facilities.

Please note: This hotel does not have a lift, but has a limited number of ground floor rooms.
