This is always a popular holiday destination which offers some of Britains most dramatic scenery. On this holiday we will visit the Roman Fort on Hadrians Wall, which offers an insight into the history of the region, the imposing historic Castle of Bamburgh and the inspiring Alnwick Garden with its water cascade.
Day 1
We join our coach for the journey to the county of Northumbria with a convenient lunch break stop on the way. We arrive at our hotel on the northern outskirts of Newcastle upon Tyne in time for our evening meal.
DDay 2
After breakfast today we join our coach to travel to Alnwick Garden, which is the inspiration of the current Duchess of Northumberland. The garden combines different styles, and includes a Grand Water Cascade and the world's biggest tree houses. After lunch we travel to the imposing Bamburgh Castle which reigns over the surrounding landscape. The state rooms are filled with the finest porcelain, china, furniture and artworks. There are also weapons glinting from the walls and cases which hint at the turmoil and sieges that have taken place in this area. After an enjoyable day out we return to our hotel and our evening meal.
B, DDay 3
Today after breakfast we join the coach and travel along George Wade's Military Road which traces the path of Hadrian's Wall to Chesters Roman Fort. The area has the best preserved Roman Cavalry fort in Britain. We continue to the market town of Hexham for some free time before we continue back to hotel and our evening meal.
B, DDay 4
This morning we travel the short distance to the Newcastle upon Tyne's city centre where we join a boat for a two hour cruise along the famous River Tyne. On this trip we pass under many of the city's iconic bridges. Afterwards there will be some free time to explore the city at your own pace before rejoining the coach for the journey back to our hotel.
B, DDay 5
This morning after breakfast we say goodbye to our hotel and Newcastle and begin our journey back to your joining points. There will be a lunch stop en route.
