A NEW trip for 2025 uncovers the hidden story of Kent’s coastal villages and towns, from secret smugglers to its Royal connections and with poignant memories of both World Wars.

Day 1

We depart early from your joining point and travel across England to the coastal town of Folkestone and our hotel for our stay. After our arrival there will be an evening meal.

Day 2

This morning after breakfast we join our coach and travel to the historic Cinque Port town of Hythe where you can wander its promenade and explore its history before we enjoy a nostalgic journey on "Kent's Miniature Mainline", the Romney, Hythe & Dymchurch railway. The train will take us across Romney Marsh to Dungeness the eerie home to a host of artists and to the "Listening Walls" built for early signs of enemy aircraft. We rejoin our coach for the journey to the picturesque town of Rye where you explore its links to Smuggling along with historic buildings and cobbled streets. We later rejoin the coach and travel back to our hotel.

Day 3

Today after breakfast we make the trip to the Isle of Thanet home to beautiful towns and beaches. We first stop at the seaside resort of Margate home to a thriving artist community and the Turner Museum of Art. We continue to the genteel seaside resort of Broadstairs which was Charles Dicken's favourite overlooking the bay topped by Bleak House. Afterwards we travel to the port town of Ramsgate with its grand harbour and the longest wartime tunnels in the country where its residents took refuge just yards away from its beach. After an enjoyable day out we return back to Folkestone and our hotel.

Day 4

This morning we travel along the White Cliffs Country to the Battle of Britain Memorial where we visit this poignant memorial to reflect on the history it represents. We continue to the town of Deal and the beautiful Walmer Castle and Gardens. Here you can explore its unique position and history before we rejoin the coach for the journey back to the hotel.

Day 5

After breakfast we depart the hotel and make our journey back, travelling through the English Countryside with a lunch stop enroute before arriving back at your joining point.

Hotel Details: The Best Western Burlington Hotel

This four star hotel is situated in the West End area of Folkestone, just steps from the lovely Leas Promenade. The hotel facilities include a bar and restaurant.

The bedrooms are ensuite with tea/coffee making facilities.

Please note: There are nine steps to access the main entrance at the hotel, plus there are some steps to access the bedrooms.
