Manx Explorer (Isle of Man)

This popular small island with big scenery lies just 60 miles from the UK mainland with well-preserved heritage sites, classic railways and even its own parliament.

Escape from the British mainland and cross by ferry to the Isle of Man, famous for its spectacular and rugged scenery, Manx Kippers and pride in its well preserved history.

You will be able to visit the Lady Isabella waterwheel, travel the Snaefell Mountain railway and visit the House of Manannan which explains the island’s history.

This holiday offers a delightfully varied holiday experience.

Day 1

This morning we make an early start and travel to Heysham and our ferry to the Isle of Man, where on our arrival we continue the short distance to our hotel.

Day 2

Today after breakfast we enjoy the company of our guide who travels with us for a day excursion to the South of the island, where we view the island's countryside with appropriate comfort and a lunch stop (lunch extra). Afterwards we travel to the Cregneash National Folk Museum which shows us how island life used to be.

Day 3

Today after a leisurely breakfast we join our coach and travel the short distance to the Steam Railway Station where we join a steam train and make the hour's journey to the seaside town of Port Erin. The coach will collect you and return you to our hotel in Douglas with the rest of the day free to either explore or relax.

Day 4

After breakfast we travel to the north of the island and the town of Ramsey. Here we change transport modes and enjoy a journey on its electric railway to the mountain summit before continuing to Laxey, where you can see the famous Lady Isabella waterwheel. Afterwards we rejoin our coach for the journey back to Douglas and our hotel.

Day 5

Today we travel across the island to the west coast and the town of Peel. Here we take a short break, giving you time to explore the town famous for the Manx Kippers. We rejoin our coach and travel through Tynwald, home to their parliament. We continue to the House of Manannan, where we stop for a visit. This museum explains the island's history through the museum.

Day 6

We enjoy an early breakfast this morning and travel to the ferry for the crossing to Heysham. On arrival on the British mainland we continue our journey back to your joining points.

This three star hotel is situated on the promenade of Douglas with views over the bay and it’s only a short walk to the town centre. The hotel’s facilities include a lounge and bar and its bedrooms are en suite with a television, hairdryer and tea/coffee making facilities, served by a lift.
