Waterways of Scotland

On this holiday we visit Rothesay, Cowal Penisula, the Falkirk Wheel & Cruise along the Firth of Forth.

On this holiday new for 2019 we visit a varied collection of attractions in Central Scotland. We take a ferry to Rothesay and visit the Victorian Mount Stuart House set in beautiful gardens, plus we travel by ferry to the Cowal Penisula and visit Benmore Gardens located in the Trossachs National Park. The Falkirk Wheel we visit and enjoy a ride followed by a cruise on the Firth of Forth offering views of the bridges and Inchcolm Island with a guided commentary.

Day 1

This morning we leave from your joining point and travel north along the motorway network to our hotel at Port Glasgow and our evening meal.

Day 2

Today after breakfast we travel to Weymss Bay for the ferry crossing to Rothesay before we continue to the Mount Stuart House. The house is an outstanding Victorian, gothic style mansion with beautiful gardens. After our visit we return to the ferry for the jounrey back to our hotel.

Day 3

This morning we travel by ferry to Dunoon arriving on the Cowal Penisula, before continuing to the Benmore Gardens located in the Trossachs National Park. The gardens highlights are the Redwood avenue and the Chilean rainforest glade. We rejoin our coach for the journey back to our hotel by road travelling via Loch Eck and Loch Fyne.

Day 4

After breakfast we travel to Falkirk and its famous Wheel. Here we travel the 35 metre drop between the two canals before rejoining our coach for the journey to South Queensferry. On our arrival we board the Forth Belle boat for a sightseeing cruise on the Firth of Forth offering viws of the bridges and the island of Inchcolm enjoying a guided commentary.

Day 5

This morning we say farewell to our hotel and Scotland and travel south using the motorway network before arriving back at your joining point early evening.

Hotel Details:> Gleddoch House Hotel, Port Glasgow.

This four star hotel stands alone in the scottish countryside offering views over the Clyde estuary close to Port Glasgow.

Its facilities include an indoor swimming pool.

All the bedrooms are ensuite.

Please Note: The hotel does not have a lift, and at least two flights of steps are required to be negotiated between the bedrooms and the public areas.
